Content: The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued the "Notice on Further Expanding the Scope of Government Procurement Supporting Green Building Materials to Promote Building Quality Improvement" (Cai Ku [2024] No. 36), deciding to implement the policy of government procurement supporting green building materials to promote building quality improvement in 101 cities (municipal districts), including Chaoyang District of Beijing, starting from January 1, 2025.

Projects included in the policy scope include government procurement projects such as hospitals, schools, office buildings, complexes, exhibition halls, convention centers, stadiums, affordable housing, and old city renovation projects. The policy requires strict adherence to the "Government Procurement Demand Standards for Green Buildings and Green Building Materials (2025 Edition)". For government-procured projects, all building materials classified as "mandatory" must be green building materials that meet relevant standards; for those classified as "optional", the types of materials used should account for no less than 40% of the building material types involved in the project.

This policy has a significant impact on the geosynthetic materials industry—geosynthetic materials, as an important component of green building materials, will benefit from the support of government procurement policies and usher in a broader market space.
