Geomembrane
Geomembrane is a very low-permeability, synthetic sheet or film used as a barrier to control the migration of liquids or gases in geotechnical engineering and environmental projects, preventing contamination of soil and water. Made from materials like HDPE, LLDPE, PVC, and EPDM, these durable, flexible membranes are crucial for landfill liners, containment ponds, canals, tunnels, and secondary containment, offering chemical resistance, strength, and long-term performance.
Geomembrane panels are joined together by thermal fusion welding during installation to form a seamless containment system. Welded seams maintain the same anti-seepage performance as the sheet itself.
Main Types of Geomembrane
1. HDPE Geomembrane (High-Density Polyethylene)
HDPE geomembrane is the most popular type. It features excellent chemical resistance, outstanding UV stability, low permeability and long service life. It can be produced as smooth or textured surface. Textured HDPE geomembrane improves friction for slope projects. Best for: Landfill liner & cover, mining heap leach pads, hazardous waste containment, sewage lagoons.
2. LLDPE Geomembrane (Linear Low-Density Polyethylene)
LLDPE geomembrane has superior flexibility and high elongation. It performs better under ground settlement and uneven foundation deformation. Best for: Fish/shrimp ponds, reservoirs, canals, biogas lagoons, secondary containment.
3. PVC Geomembrane
PVC geomembrane is lightweight, flexible and easy to fabricate. It is cost-effective for small waterproofing works. Best for: Swimming pools, landscape ponds, tunnel waterproofing, indoor containment.
4. EPDM Geomembrane
EPDM offers great weather resistance and elasticity. It can withstand extreme temperature changes. Best for: Outdoor landscape water bodies, exposed waterproof projects.
