Geotextile in Ground & Pavement Stabilization

Virtually all roads constructed nowadays – be it motorways, haulage routes or suburban thoroughfares – employ geotextiles, geocomposites, geogrids and/or geocells to deliver stability, reinforcement, separation and filtration beneath the road subgrade.

Water seepage into road pavements represents the biggest risk of deterioration for any roadway. For this reason, swift evacuation of such water is critically important.

Conventional road building methods mandate roadside drainage systems fitted with geotextiles. To maximise the efficiency of these drains, a geotextile boasting high permeability is preferred. The three-dimensional architecture of nonwoven geotextiles creates abundant flow channels, enabling water to pass through at higher rates than most native soils it interfaces with.

How Geofabrics support subsoil and pavement stabilisation:

  • Minimise cracking and pothole formation on asphalt surfaces
  • Boost resistance against climatic conditions
  • Cut down the quantity of aggregate materials needed for construction
